Cupping
Cupping is a therapy that is mainly used for pain due to inflammation and spasm. The idea behind using strong suction on the body is that the muscles, when in a chronic tension pattern have impaired blood flow. When the cups are applied, the blood flow is invigorated and the metabolic waste and toxins that have been accumulated in the muscle can be excreted. This leads to better blood flow to the tissues and relaxation of tension patterns, hence the Chinese Medicine understanding that cupping resolves blood stasis.
